My Favorite Diets To Lose Weight Require Cheating

Believe it or not, dieting doesn't have to mean giving up all your favorite foods. As a matter of fact, the most effective diets to lose weight actually make cheating a part of the plan. Although it goes completely against what most of us have been taught over the years, eating a few strategically placed goodies actually helps you lose more weight in the long run. It may even help you keep it off, too.

At first, finding out that you can cheat on your diet and get better results might seem like a marketing ploy. After all, we've been taught that in order to lose weight we need to reduce the number of calories we take in and maximize the number we burn off through exercise. Mathematically speaking, this creation of a calorie deficit makes sense. However, if you eat too few calories over an extended period of time, you're likely to reach what's called a weight loss plateau.

If you've ever dieted before, you probably already know what a plateau is. It can actually derail your entire diet program if you let it. After a good period of steady weight loss, suddenly you're unable to shed even a pound. It's so easy just to give up when this sudden weight loss slump happens. They've done everything required of their diet plan but it's suddenly failing them. Has this ever happened to you?

Ask most diet counselors and they'll tell you that plateaus are normal and they're expected to happen. Most people will tell you just to work through the plateau and eventually you'll start losing weight again. Maybe what they should really be telling you is to lighten up and cheat a little. There's nothing wrong with having your favorite foods as long as it's just once every now and then. It may also be time to change up your workout as well.

You might think I'm crazy, but taking a short break from your diet can make all the difference and help break a plateau. And, by strategically cheating you might be able to avoid those dreaded drops in weight loss altogether. Strategic cheating is the key to making this work for you. Cheating without any sort of plan can result in you going off your diet so much that you're right back where you started.

It's a simple concept, really. When you're eating a low, consistent number of calories day in and day out, your metabolism starts to slow down. When you know how to mix in a few goodies at the right time intervals, you can actually keep your metabolism high. Keeping your metabolism high is an important consideration and should be a part of all the leading diets to lose weight. Any program you choose should address this important issue.
